What the checker actually verifies

A shared frequency or a similar-looking remote is not enough. The result has to survive each evidence gate below.

1 · Exact opener identityThe opener model must exist in XEKOV’s first-party-source-backed database.
2 · Opener brand scopeThe accessory manufacturer must list the opener brand it claims to support.
3 · Radio familyThe accessory’s published protocol list must include the opener’s verified technology.
4 · Receiver overrideIf an add-on receiver controls the handheld radio path, identify that receiver instead of relying on the opener’s built-in radio.

XEKOV shows the opener and accessory records, the matching brand scope and the matching radio family. This is the strongest pair result the current dataset can produce without inventing model-to-model claims.

A required check fails

The checker tells you whether the failure is opener-brand scope, radio family or both. A protocol match does not override a missing manufacturer brand claim.

Unknown

A model is not indexed

Unknown means the current reviewed evidence cannot establish the pair. It does not mean “probably compatible,” and it does not silently substitute a nearby model number.

Cases where you should not trust a simple model pair

  • External receiver: a wired add-on receiver can replace the opener’s original handheld-radio path.
  • Replaced control board: the installed board can differ from the opener’s factory radio generation.
  • Craftsman exceptions: some otherwise broad accessory claims contain model-series exclusions.
  • Regional variants: model names, radio versions and safety requirements can differ outside North America.
  • Universal does not mean universal: the exact accessory still needs the manufacturer-listed brand and radio family.

Why this is better than matching frequency alone

Two products can mention the same MHz value and still use different coding or manufacturer-specific pairing rules.
