Sources & compatibility methodology
XEKOV is designed to prefer a smaller verified answer over a larger guessed database. The purpose of this methodology is to make clear why a page exists, what evidence level supports it, and what XEKOV refuses to infer.

What qualifies as a verified opener record
An indexed opener model needs a first-party manufacturer product page, owner manual, support page, or manufacturer replacement-parts page that identifies the receiver generation, learn-button family or another direct compatibility marker.
What qualifies as a compatible accessory
The accessory manufacturer must explicitly list the opener’s radio generation, learn-button color or protocol. XEKOV does not infer compatibility from visual similarity, marketplace titles or user comments alone.
How cross-brand universal products are handled
Universal remotes/keypads are included only for protocol families that the current manufacturer specification enumerates. “Universal” is never treated as an unlimited compatibility claim. This matters because one current universal product can legitimately span several brands while another visually similar product may cover only a few generations.
Exact-model vs protocol-only pages
Those are intentionally different evidence levels. An accessory can prove that it supports Guardian 303 MHz, for example, without proving which specific Guardian opener model in a retailer listing uses that protocol. XEKOV keeps that protocol useful without manufacturing unsupported model pages.
How facts are used
XEKOV summarizes factual identifiers such as model numbers, learn-button generations and protocol compatibility. We do not republish manufacturer manuals, product photos, logos or extended copyrighted descriptions. Source links let users verify the current manufacturer page.
Freshness and status
The compatibility snapshot on this release was checked on September 16, 2026. Product availability can change faster than protocol compatibility. A discontinued accessory may remain in the database only as an explicitly labeled cross-reference. “Current” means XEKOV found a current manufacturer product/compatibility source at the check date; it is not a guarantee of inventory at a specific retailer.
What can invalidate an otherwise correct page
- A replacement receiver or logic board changes the radio generation.
- A manufacturer revises an accessory specification or retires a product.
- A model suffix points to a different configuration than the base model.
- A broad family statement contains a named series exception.
Corrections
If an opener has a replacement receiver board, the physical learn button or current receiver documentation can override the original factory configuration. Report a factual correction through the contact page with the exact model and first-party source. Do not send access codes or home-address information.
